1. How can someone tell if a student has requested that directory information not be disclosed?
The student’s request to restrict directory information is reflected in the Student Information System (SIS). Once the student’s record has been flagged in SIS, it will be displayed with the message: “Student has requested that no information be released.”
2. Where can I get a copy of the law?

3. Why can't parents get their children’s grades or schedules if they’re paying the bills?
FERPA does not permit USC to release non-directory information without the signed consent of the child.
4. How can I pay for my child's account if you can't even tell me how much is owed?
Students can provide parents access to receive and inspect tuition and fee billing statements through OASIS for Guests or through USC ePay for Guests. Additional instructions for students to set up parent accounts are available on the Student Financial Services website.
5. Can a student have directory information released to just their parents?
No, a student does not have the right to request non-disclosure of directory information to a particular person or group of persons.
